Episode #23 - Cut Yourself Some Slack!

A short one today as I just want to remind you that it's ok to not be obsessed with your social media performance and to give yourself a break! Social media is something to help your wedding florist business, not something to stress about.

Well, hello there, my fellow Wedding Florist friend and welcome to the Wedding Florist Social Podcast. This is the podcast for Wedding Florist to learn all about acing their online presence. Today , I am going to keep this super short for you today. What I just wanted to tell you that I see you, I see you there stressing over things like, Oh God, I'm supposed to post on my social media X amount of times per day, but I haven't managed to do anything in days or , uh, I heard an expert online tell me I'm supposed to post on my stories three times a day, but I've just been too busy. Or, Oh no , my engagement and reach our way down this week compared to last week, I see you stressing. But honestly, you guys, as much as I think that social media is a huge part of your business , uh, and it's just as important as the wedding flowers you produce, you just need to cut yourselves a break sometimes you really need to cut yourself some slack because spending your life stressing over your, your , your Facebook insights and your Instagram insights to see if your reach is improved recently, or, you know, trying to post something to your stories at least three times a day when you've got a million other things to do that day and your mind is just on other things, it's just not healthy, you know, And it is , it's not gonna do you any good and it's gonna make you resent , uh, social media as part of your business rather than help you embrace it. Now, what is good is regularly putting yourself out there and being your best. I know that sounds terribly tw , but , um, you know , but , but being your best online because , you know, being authentic and , and thinking about the , the , the value you provide and the enjoyment you bring to the table, to your perspective couples is , is key above all else, really. Absolutely. If you wanna grow post as often as possible, you know, daily if you can, but I would rather you post it , uh, you know, once a week or got even once a fortnight if that post is gonna be a quality post that is geared towards the kind of people you wanna attract. I'd rather you did that than just post absolute trash every day just for the sake of it. And it's gonna something that's gonna confuse , uh, potential clients. So confuse people as to whether they're you are right for them or not. And you know what? So what if your stats go down this week? Do you know how often I check my Instagram and Facebook insights? Pretty much never actually. And do you know how often I think to myself, Oh , this would look awesome in a real , or I should post this because my followers will love it. Well, daily , I'm doing that right now with you guys actually. Um, it , it that , that is what I focus on. That is what's important. But do you know what? I don't do? I don't beat myself up if I miss a day of social media posting. Now, if you need any ideas at all, if, if you find it a struggle , uh, I think most people struggle because they, they just simply don't know what to post. You know, they think they have to post polished professional pictures of, of their weddings and they think they just haven't got any content because they haven't been sent to someone's gallery recently. So, if you struggle with ideas, I do have a free social media guide. The length of that is in the podcast description, so please do download it. It's absolutely free, and it gives you some great ideas on , uh, what you can post before, during, and after a wedding. So , when you have a wedding, what sort of content can you post to post to your , to your stories and to your Instagram reels and , um, your , your Facebook and all that sort of thing . So, and it also tells you a little bit about the different types of medium, like what , what sort of video posts you can do and what sort of static kind of image posts you can do and things like that. So it's, it is a really, really useful guide and it's absolutely free and it may help you. And so please download it. Uh , it's, it's in the podcast description and , uh, if you find it useful, please do let me know. I would love to hear that from you, cuz that makes it all worthwhile for , for me to know that I've made a difference to you. Um, but it's just worth noting that, you know, social media isn't your jam at all, and , uh, it doesn't come naturally to you. I think just remember, it is worthwhile doing. Just, just give yourself a break for it sometimes. Please don't stress about it. Please just concentrate mostly on, you know, what, what sort of things you , you'll , you think your clients will like or what reflects you as a business best. Um, because that's gonna attract the sort of people who like your sort of content. Please don't stress about little things like, you know , whether your reach has gone up or down this week. I couldn't even tell you what my reach or engagement figures are , Um, because I just, it's not , it's not a statistic. I monitor what , what I do monitor is the amount of inquiries I get, and that's what really matters.
